I know, I know...I'm late! Last week was filled with the ER, CAT scans, EKG's, feverish kidos, coughs, colds, several days of missed school...I could go on...and on...
BUT...
after many prayers, sleepless nights, test results saying my brain is normal (I insisted on a copy for proof later
on :)...we are on the mend! A HUGE thanks to all of you who came to my aid. This was definitely a week FULL of service...for which I was on the receiving end. The kindness of others never ceases to amaze me.
So, on that note, let's get giving!
Now a few of you have mentioned you didn't feel comfortable tooting your own horn. Let me assure you, that is not the purpose or spirit of this challenge. I've thought A LOT about this, and felt inspired this past week as I witnessed 2 different programs on TV. The first, was a special about TOMS Shoes on CNBC. The second, was General Conference. Both of these programs inspired & motivated me to do more...to give more. Were Blake (chief shoe-giver) or Pres. Monson tooting their own horns as they shared stories of love, service, & sacrifice? I think we all know the answer to that. So, I asked myself...why does Blake or the Church go around sharing these stories?
TO INSPIRE.
One of the purposes of this challenge is to inspire each other--to read what others are doing and say...
"what a great idea--I can do that"
"I didn't realize there was a need there--I can help"
"what an easy way to make a big difference--I can give"
So I'm asking you...please...inspire me! I happen to know each of you personally, and know your motivation in giving is not to be acknowledged or to receive some awesome :) handmade gift from yours truly. So don't be shy. Get those wheels turning. Be creative. Give.
If this is your first time participating in the challenge, you basically have 1 week to find some way to give...big, small...money, time...it really doesn't matter, as long as you GIVE! Then leave me a comment about what you did, and at the end of this month's challenge, I will randomly draw the name of one lucky "giver" to receive a handmade gift from me. :D And if my fierce crafting skills aren't enough to persuade you, remember...
"the more you give, the more you live"

Please, please give me a call when you have a spare second, we obviously need to talk. I hope all is better than it was last week, although I am still wondering what happened last week!
okay, okay..............we are taking a young cousin with us down to St. George, we have been wanting to do something for her for a long time and this was our chance. I'll update you on this one.
Thanks for kicking us off, Becky!
So I didn't do anything, but I was impressed by two people (army people no less) that helped me out today as I was traveling to Kabul. First, a convoy went out of their way to take me to a base downtown where I had to do some business. They didn't know me but when I asked for some help they just said yes. Second, as I was walking down the road at the before mentioned base, some random army guy pulled up in a vehicle and offered to haul me and my bags to my barracks. It was a very nice gesture. It is nice to see that people are good, people are nice, and people want to help...even in the Army.
sue, i'm glad that you are all feeling a bit better. i am now wondering what was wrong. i am so happy that justin will be home soon! i am motivated to do some giving, i'll let you know.
Glad you're all doing better!
Can I nominate my husband? He was driving home today and an old lady was trying to carry a crate full of groceries to her apartment complex when she dropped it and the groceries went everywhere. He pulled over and picked up the groceries for her and carried them to her apartment.
Did I miss something? Were you injured? I am glad things are on the mend! And that you will get to see your hubby soon!!!! :) and that your brain is normal. Never would have doubted that if you hadn't mentioned it! =)We miss you guys!
So cool that Justin is coming home! How long is he there for? Or is it for good?!
