Newscast

My good friend, Haylie, called the other day to ask how we are shipping all of the donations for the Afghan Children Project. I told her, honestly, we have been so overwhelmed (in a good way :) by the extreme kindness of our friends, family, neighbors...even strangers, and never expected to collect SO MUCH! I don't think a day goes by without someone dropping something on our doorstep. At this point, we're not exactly sure how we're getting it there. Haylie thought it might be a good idea to get the word out about this shipping predicament, and asked if it would be okay for her to email some news stations. I told her that would be great, but didn't really think anything would come of it. (She even emailed Oprah...but I'm still waiting on that one. ;)

Anyhow...to make a long story short, Channel 5 News came to do a story yesterday, and it aired last night. If you missed it, you can check it out here. I think they did a pretty good job, although I was disappointed that they left out pictures of Jed Boal sitting on the floor in his suit & tie, trying to interview me while Ammon was shoving item after item from the donation boxes into his face, OR Ellie sticking secret hearts she had cut out into the camera man's back pocket, OR Eden trying to pull Jed's tie off because "we don't have church today", OR wrapping herself around his leg as he was leaving, asking him if he could stay at our house and live with us. He kindly declined...but I'm sure the offer was tempting. All in all, it was a fun experience...and they kids were happy they got to miss school!

So...if anyone is still dying to help with this project, we are gladly accepting shipping donations. OR if you know someone who does that sort of thing or has connections with someone who might be able to help, leave me a comment with your email, and I'll get back to you.

I also wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has already helped in any way with this project. We can never thank you enough for being part of this with us.

good things...

1. my sister, Marie, saving me yesterday morning before the camera's arrived
2. seeing on the news that Jed's tie survived Eden's tugging
3. learning that great things that can come from COMBINED effort...I'm a believer!

Sue, WOW!!! I can't believe how much you have collected, and that it takes up an entire room. I couldn't help but laugh about your kids' actions with Jed. Isn't that so true?
