Lake Tahoe

Last, last weekend (28th-1st) Justin's parents graciously agreed to come stay with our kids so Justin & I could sneak away for a few days to Lake Tahoe. I don't think they knew exactly what they were signing up for...but I think they survived without too many permanent emotional scars! We are so grateful for their willingness to do this for us--and the kids looooved it! Thanks Mom & Dad!

So...with our kids in very capable hands, we spent nearly 5 days doing absolutely nothing! When we got there (we stayed at the Hyatt Resort), the pool was full of people, and it was snowing! They keep the pool so warm, that no one seemed to mind. We noticed this as we were walking around the back side of the hotel with all our bags, our computer (laptop...nope...24 inch iMac...yep), and an old laundry basket full of board games. They would have parked our car and taken our bags to our room for us, but Justin didn't have any cash on him for a tip, so we took the "other" entrance. We seriously looked so pathetic. We, of course, had to take it all in one trip because it was snowing and we had to walk a mile to get to our secret entrance. I wish I had a picture...you'll have to use your imagination! (I assure you, it was waaaaay more embarrassing than that!)

Now, you may be wondering why we felt the need to bring our desktop computer on vacation. Obviously, we weren't about to pay $15 a day to rent a dvd player from the hotel...hence, the computer. We could have just brought our dvd player from home, but Grandma & Grandpa might not have survived without it! We ended up watching loads of movies...thanks iMac!

So, here's the basic breakdown of our time in Tahoe...

sleep in
hit the gym
hit the hot tub
loooong hot shower
go to dinner
chat at the fire pit
games we never have time to play at home
cozy robes
movies till 2am
sleep in...

You get the idea. It was great! Add on top of that, loads of yummy snacks and treats (that should probably really never be allowed), and it just doesn't get much better. My favorite day was Sunday. We went to this very cool little ward, and had cold cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We played games aaaaaall day...I even beat Justin at Boggle! That's one for the record books.

I, of course, wouldn't be me if I didn't leave you with some photos...

Pictures of you and Justin make me smile. You two definately look like partners in crime. I can only imagine the schemes you play on your kids.
OH, SO JEALOUS. I think that Tahoe Area might be calling my name.
Games, Snacks, movies, late nights, late mornings, we would be great traveling couples. You're our kind of couple.

I am clarifying my yes sleep over vote. I must know the child, parents, etc. Some sleepovers just never seem to "work out" for some reason. But when you are the parent you have that perogative. I know lots of people who are no sleepovers ever. They are our children, we have to do all we can to protect them. And sometimes we just don't know what happens behind closed doors.

I LOVE Lake Tahoe! Layne and I had our one year wedding anniversary there some years ago and it seriously was better than our honeymoon! What kind of games do you not get to play at home with the kids? LOL!

Glad you got away! Jealous!

Jealous, jealous, jealous!! How fun to be just the two of you, no kids waking you up or interupting your conversation. How would it be? Rob and I are in some serious need of alone time! Maybe for our anniversary. Can you believe it will be 8 years?
