Moments after we pulled out the Christmas stuff and were putting up the tree, this is what happened...
My poor Bubbi fell down the stairs. I'm talking top to bottom, head over heels. I think I flew down the stairs in one giant leap, with Abbie right behind me (she's such a good big sister). There he was, limp and whimpering--no screaming, no movement. It SCARED me to death! I thought for sure we were headed to the emergency room. This is when you really miss your doctor husband. After a while (and a large dose of Motrin), he perked up a little. This morning, the swelling had gone down a lot, but he keeps rubbing his eye, then crying because it hurts. He's not a very happy camper. I just feel really blessed that he wasn't seriously hurt. I feel sad just looking at this picture. I should have taken one last night--his nose was all white and puffy and his eye was swollen so he couldn't open it all the way. What a tough little guy!
good things...
1. carpeted stairs
2. my mom being here during the "incident"
3. seeing Abbie's motherly instincts kick in
4. a slightly bruised, but healthy Bubbi

Hyrum did the same thing! He was bruised, but not as much as Ammon. Poor little guy! Good thing there are lots of little mommies around;)
I'm so sorry! He reminds me of Kevin when his nose was broken. Please give him a big hug from us!
Ouch! That's quite a shiner. Is everything working ok? I remember (well, sort of) falling down the linoleum-tred, metal corner stairs of my home when I was a little guy. To this date, I carry a scar between my eyes. Some people thing it's a lightning bolt just like... I hope Ammon's okay.
Love, Dad
Hug, Hug, Kiss, Kiss from your Auntie to our tough little man. You'll grow to be PROUD of those bruises.
When Eddy was little, I was giving him a bath and I noticed that for once in his young boy life, he had no bruises on his legs - when I pointed this out to him, he said, "Kick me Mom".
Wow, that was quite a fall. I'm glad it wasn't more serious. Give him a kiss for me.
Love, Mom
Poor guy! I'm so glad he's o.k. He is a tough cookie!
Oh Sue I am so sorry! That is such a scary thing. I am so glad he is "okay" bruises go away and actually one day he will really like those pictures...boys! He is such a cutie!
We had the same thing happen on Sunday before church. I'm thankful that kids are so resilient, aren't you? It's great that you have a great support system in your mother and daughter while your husband is away.
Oh no!
That's the kind of photo that break every mama's heart.
So glad he's ok.
Poor boy. Give him an extra hug and kiss for his daddy.
Sue!!! How are you?? Liz & I got back in touch recently and she sent me the link to your blog. Anyway, we live in Utah at the moment and I wondered if you were around? Greg did 8 years in the military (ending with a year and a half in Iraq), we went to BYUI for his Bachelor's degree, now at the UofU for his master's. Anyway, it'd be awesome to see you! Our email address is: emailthewolfleys@gmail.com... in case you are trying to figure out who I am... Jaime (Cook) Wolfley from the days at Branbury - I married my Marine :)
Thanks for the call. Poor Ammon. That looks like it is going to hurt for a while.
What a trooper! Poor little man. You must have been terrified. Those moments are awful. I'm so glad Ammon is healing well and that you weren't alone when it happened.
Amy
Oh my! That must have been absolutely horrible. I am glad that you are near family for moments just like that.
We are all thinking of you, Justin, and the entire family.
