Month in a Minute

Okay...so everyone thinks I'm either dead or depressed--I'm neither (although, at times, both are highly debatable). I am extremely busy, slightly overwhelmed, and pretty much just sad...but alive! I am soooooo grateful to be living near family. They have all been so helpful and supportive. I also have my niece, Jessica, living with us during the week all summer. She has been great, and the kids love having her here!

I'm going to try and back-log a little at some point, so I can document the last month. But for now, I'm just going to give you a quick run-down...

Sunday (5/11)- Mother's Day, said goodbye to church friends & my young women (a few of them weren't there--which made me very sad), Abbie starts throwing up in the middle of her well-prepared Family Home Evening lesson on mothers

Monday (5/12)- Abbie reluctantly misses school (but feels better), movers start packing us, kids love empty cupboards, I have lunch with a friend, girls have a play date w/friends

Tuesday (5/13)- more packing/start loading, lots of cleaning, play date at park, check into the Holiday Inn, haircuts all around

Wednesday (5/14)- Abbie's last day of school, finish loading, Justin cleans house top to bottom (I love you, honey), check out, final goodbye to neighbors/friends :(, drive, drive, drive, arrive at my mom's at 2am

Thursday (5/15)- sleep in, Eden starts throwing up (thanks Abbie), we check out our house--no stove, super dirty, change of plans, Eden keeps throwing up, we've run out of clothes for her, Justin takes the kids to his parents' house while I clean our house aaaaaaaall day, Eden throws up some more, sisters/nieces/nephews to the rescue, house is finally clean and ready for the movers, I meet Justin & the kids at his parents', eat dinner, collapse into bed, Ellie starts throwing up...all night

Friday (5/16)- my parents' 50th wedding anniversary (overnight celebrations w/mom & siblings/spouses planned for 3:00), Justin leaves early to meet the movers, movers couldn't hire anyone to help, 2 guys unloading/reassembling ALL our stuff--2 guys, between sick kids & slow unloading--I am quickly losing hope of making the celebration at all, Justin's parents so kindly offer to take our sick kids overnight, movers FINALLY finish, we've missed the temple (hoping to make dinner), hit traffic, miss dinner, make it to the vacation house just in time for treats/gifts/good conversation/cheesy movie ;), Justin & I stay up most of the night talking/crying (though Justin would never admit it)

Saturday (5/17)- drive home, pick up kids, drop off kids at Jeff & Kim's (thanks guys), start unpacking, loads of family helping, many hands do make light work (thank you, thank you, thank you), I make beds while Justin goes to pick up the kidos, meet several neighbors--one brings dinner & cookies (we're gunna like this neighborhood :), bed time in our new house!

Sunday (5/18)- 9am church, only 20 minutes late, good friend from high school/college in our ward, Eden loves her nursery teacher--hallelujah!, kids discover new use for packing paper, dinner at Ruth's house (thanks again), meet my nephew's fiance--too, too cute

Monday (5/19)- trip to Ikea for this & this & several other random items, Wendy's for dinner, my mom comes down to help, she trips and falls on her way out because there's no porch light--bloody nose, skinned face & knees (she wins the "martyr for the day" award...sorry, Mom), eating out and unpacking is already getting old

Tuesday (5/20)- unpack, unpack, unpack, dinner & American Idol at Justin's parents' house

Wednesday (5/21)- unpack, unpack, unpack, look for a couch (with no success), show kids where mom & dad met...aawwww (they were mildly interested), dinner & American Idol at Justin's parents' house...again, Abbie devastated over David Archuleta's loss

Thursday (5/22)- unpack, unpack, spend waaaaaaay too much money at Target (Justin better get use to it...LOVE that store!), dinner at a fun little pizza joint, unpack some more, and some more, and some more

Friday (5/23)- I'm not going to say unpack anymore--you get the idea, we try to do daddy/daughter dates but traffic is horrendous, takes 1 hour to travel 1 exit, we get off said exit, eat at McDonalds & go home, my mom watches the kidos while Justin & I...go to the temple (so, so nice...we both felt very peaceful), out to dinner, & to Indiana Jones, I don't want my husband to leave

Saturday (5/24)- work day, errands, last minute preparations, still no stove, microwave generic mac & cheese for dinner (disgusting--not even the kids will eat it), I don't want my husband to leave

Sunday (5/25)- my nephew blesses his cute baby (Thomas), overwhelming feeling of gratitude for the many worthy priesthood holders in my life, farewell party at my mom's house for Justin, surprise appearance by my brother (Spence) from WA & his family!, I don't want my husband to leave

Monday (5/26)- rescheduled daddy dates at Build-A-Bear, lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory, kids play the recorded messages in their animals from dad non-stop, Justin's glad he doesn't have to hear them again for 15 months, pack up the car, relax for a few minutes, off to the airport with my mom & Justin's parents, tears, tears, & more tears, awful goodbye, super sad kids, even sadder wife, so grateful parents where there to help with kidos, I NEVER want to do that again!

Tuesday (5/27)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin, unpack, Jessica moves in

Wednesday (5/28)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin, unpack

Thursday (5/29)- actually shower & get dressed, register girls for school, ichat w/Justin, unpack

Friday (5/30)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin, unpack, movie night

Saturday (5/31)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin, unpack, Justin moves from San Diego to Kansas

Sunday (6/1)- 9am church, only 15 minutes late, Justin's parents so kindly come sit through sacrament mtg. with us, I end up walking the halls through Sunday School & Relief Society with the 30 lb. noise machine we call Ammon, dinner at Marie's with Doug & family (thanks again), missing Justin horribly, Ammon's first day with no binky or bottle (I chucked them both--cold turkey!), we survive our first Sunday without Dad

Monday (6/2)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin doesn't work from his new location, Eden keeps asking to see Daddy on the "pooter"

Tuesday (6/3)- pajama day, ichat w/Justin still doesn't work, unpack

Wednesday (6/4)- pajama day, spend HOURS on the phone with Apple technical support...no luck

Thursday (6/5)- I shower, bathe the kids, everyone gets dressed!, Ellie on the verge of throwing up all day, 103 degree temperature, EVERYONE wants to see Dad on the "pooter", Ellie feels better, Jessica aids me in a major run to Costco & Macey's with ALL the kids, home at 10:30pm, NEVER going to Costco OR Macey's with ANY of the kids again

Friday (6/6)- pajama day, Ellie's fever is back, Justin moves to final location at Fort Riley...40-man bunks...wireless internet...ICHAT WORKS!, prayers are answered, movie night, Ellie has a "missing Daddy" meltdown

So there you have it...my month in a nutshell. Thank you so much to all of you who have been so supportive and helpful during such a crazy time. You'll never know how much it has meant to us.

It's mine & Justin's 8th anniversary tomorrow. My day started with beautiful flowers being delivered. Thanks, honey. I love you...I miss you.

good things...

1. updating my blog

I'm in tears since "Monday 5/26"... And now "The Promise"- what are you doing to me? LOVE, love, LoVe the Build A Bear date.
You are a tough woman and I am impressed with how you are handling life! Good luck is trite, your family is in our prayers- thanks for your service, and Justin's, too! (is it not debateable that the spouse is sacrificing as much or more than the deployed?!)

I was thinking of you and Justin on the 8th. I thought how cool that it was your 8th anniversary on the 8th. I am a nerd. Glad to see you are still alive though you have been crazy busy physically and emotionally. I impressed at your survival skills. You rock girl! Hang in there and I will keep praying that ichat works!

You are totally leaving me "wow-less". I did not even know the half of what you have been going through. What is the deal with all of our sick kiddos? Don't they know it is summer and they are not supposed to be sick?
